Fairness and Bias in AI Algorithms and Interfaces
This workshop will explore various biases present in AI algorithms and interfaces used on online platforms such as digital archives, libraries, social media, search engines, and other AI-powered services. It will encourage critical thinking about the credibility of information, the transparency of curation processes, the accuracy of representations, and the complexities surrounding information authority, formats, and editorial supervision. Participants will also be taught effective strategies for recognizing and evaluating these biases inherent in each media.
